A FONDEF project led by the Facultad de Ciencias Agronómicas of Universidad de Chile. Newtenberg plays a role as a partner.
Project being developed. Term given for its implementation: 18 months starting from January 2005.
Goals
To enable firms that develop ICT applications to generate products and services related to sciences, technologies and production aimed at the different levels of tertiary education in Chile. This is to be achieved by implementing a cooperative system that facilitates the relationship between a university network and a company network, to develop applications based on teaching with learning objects, OA`s [objetos de aprendizaje].
Specific objectives
To generate a national network of efficient cooperation between the contents developers for tertiary education and ICT application developing companies, and, indirectly, between those actors and the final users.
To incorporate and strengthen the use of a teaching method through OA`s in Chile's distance education, so that it allows to generate ICT applications which are reusable and operating in the different areas and levels of continuing education.
To place the development of ICT applications in a continuing education context which make the users' educational experience more appealing.
To encourage the growth of a national market, with possibilities to expand abroad, for companies that develop ICT applications in different levels and areas of continuing education.
To group and organize the work of content developers and ICT application developers through an XML-based platform which is easily accessible to and compatible with the associated organizations.
To initiate an active cooperation with Ibero-American countries in the development and integration of contents through OA's (based on XML). All of them could articulate local platforms for exchanging applications developed on the basis of OA`s in distance education.
